Ideally placed as a retreat from the hustle of the more developed areas of the town, the centre of Dalyan and the river remain an easy twenty minute walk away – or five minutes on one of our bikes. The town offers a large range of river side restaurants, bars and gift shops and a lively market every Saturday.
From the town centre, it’s just fifteen minutes by dolmus (the local minibus), or thirty minutes by boat to Iztuzu otherwise known as Turtle beach, one of Turkey’s most beautiful Mediterranean beaches. Named ‘Best open space in Europe 2008’ by the British newspaper The Times in its Green Spaces awards and it is home to the Government funded Turtle Sanctuary which is open to visitors. The entire area is a conservation zone where the ecology and natural habitat are preserved while still being accessible to travellers.
Close by Dalyan’s famous hot thermal springs and mud baths offer relaxation and many other therapeutic benefits while the ancient city of Kaunos - with its ruined acropolis, theatre and temples provide a cultural highlight. A boat trip up river in the opposite direction to the beach will bring you to the tranquil but stunning Lake Koycegiz and the town of the same name situated on the far shores.
